Live Streaming and Video/Image Posting Guidelines
*These guidelines only apply to the “FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster” series.

SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD (hereafter referred to as “the Company”) is delighted to receive requests to share videos and images from our games online. While the Company would like to accommodate such requests, the images, videos, characters, music, and all other media are intellectual properties of the Company or its licensors. Therefore the Company has set out the following guidelines regarding the use of its materials in order to continue protecting the lore of the Company’s games in future.

Please adhere to this guideline regarding the use of videos, live streams, and images (hereafter referred to as “Materials”) of the FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remastered versions of “FINAL FANTASY”, “FINAL FANTASY II”, “FINAL FANTASY III”, “FINAL FANTASY IV”, “FINAL FANTASY V”, “FINAL FANTASY VI” (hereafter referred to as “Games” collectively).

Materials that may be used by Streamers:

The Materials that may be used (hereafter referred to as “Materials”) are as follows:
o Content (text, information, images, and videos) from the Game’s official website below:
https://finalfantasypixelremaster.square-enix-games.com/
o In-Game text and images from within the Games, including screenshots and gameplay footage captured from the Games
o Music used in the Games

Square Enix reserves the right to object to any use of Square Enix materials

and Square Enix may submit takedown requests to third parties hosting any such content. With that said, here are some general rules that will guide our decisions.

No Commercial Use:

Do not use Square Enix materials to make money or gain any other financial benefit. This means you can’t sell our game content and you can’t use our game content to help sell other products or services. Similarly, you can’t require payment to view or access any Square Enix materials. However, we do allow you to monetize content via advertising through platform-operated programs on YouTube, NicoNico, and other similar services. If you ever receive an inquiry from such services about your right to distribute videos and live streams of our Games, please refer them to this Guideline.

Prohibited use:
  o Use under a corporate entity or company name;
  o Use of the Materials on websites or services that require payment for viewers to access;

Attribution:

If you use any Materials, you should mention that they belong to us by showing our copyright notice. This helps protects us legally and it’s also nice to give credit to the creators. If Square Enix’s original materials include any credits or legal lines, you must not remove them.

o If images or videos are captured using game console functions, the lines above may be displayed automatically. If these images or videos are to be used as they are, then they do not need to be added manually.
o For platforms such as “Twitter” where space to display is limited, the legal lines do not need to be displayed. “© Square Enix” will suffice.
o If multiple images or videos are included in the same page, then legal lines can be displayed all in one place rather than individually for the images or videos.

No Unreleased Content:

Unofficial content from our games—including leaked content, content released without Square Enix’s permission in advance of an embargo date, or content otherwise captured or obtained without Square Enix’s permission—must not be posted online, and especially not prior to the official release date for the game. Square Enix treats pre-release leaks very seriously; you may receive a copyright “strike” or suffer other consequences if you violate this guideline.

Spoilers:

Spoilers can ruin a player’s game experience, so we ask you to be considerate when posting content that may contain spoilers and to clearly mark any such content. This is especially important during the first few weeks after a game launches. In all cases, please use appropriate and clear spoiler warning tags; we also encourage you to use verbal spoiler warnings at the start of your videos.

Only Original Square Enix Content:

Some Square Enix games contain music or other content that Square Enix doesn’t own. If you include non-Square Enix music or other content in your video (even if it was in the original Square Enix game), your video could be subject to filtering or takedown notices by the owner of the copyright in the original work. Since we cannot grant you a license to use someone else’s content, you’ll need to get permission from the copyright owner(s) before using their content.

No Ripping or Extracting Files:

You may not separate our videos or other content into component parts (vocals, music, visuals, etc.) and distribute the individual components as standalone assets.

Examples:
o Posting, streaming, publishing etc. (hereafter referred to as “posting etc.”) of videos or playlists with the sole purpose of showing gameplay scenes (including event scenes, same hereafter) or posting etc. of videos or playlists with the sole purpose of playing music are forbidden.
o Movie scenes only, or mostly taken from movie scenes
o Allowing continuous listening of music while not playing the game normally, such as making the player character stand still or continuously repeating a simple action
o Publishing multiple images from movie scenes, only showing the movie scenes
o Please refrain from secondary use of published videos etc. e.g. Collecting published videos etc. and distributing them as a separate medium such as a booklet, whether it is paid or free, is considered secondary use.

Don’t Be Offensive:

Please don’t use Square Enix materials in any content that is or could appear to be offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, defamatory, deceptive, controversial, or otherwise inappropriate or illegal (including any use on or in connection with any piracy sites), or in any content that promotes any of the foregoing.

Prohibited use:
o Use of the Materials on website and services that are for adult-only audience (18+ years and above);
o Use of the Materials in a way that will tarnish the Square Enix or FINAL FANTASY brand
o Use of the Materials in relation to any religious, political, anti-social activities

Don’t Remix Our Materials With Those of Others:

This can be confusing to viewers, as it may not be clear who owns what content, and where each piece of content is from.

o Creating content by combing the Materials or adding your own voice as voiceover to showcase or comment on the Games is permitted.

The above guidelines may be updated from time to time in our sole discretion. Violation of the guidelines above is the most common reason we might object to your use of our materials, but there may be others. Please use common sense and act responsibly. Note that you use our materials at your own risk, and we don’t offer any warranties. Finally, please note that we can’t address individual requests for clearance or questions, so feel free to share this link with anyone requesting details about our policy.
